Superintendent's Report

New school year, new plan
Dear Minneota Public School Families,
Last week, Governor Tim Walz introduced the state plan for reopening schools for 2020-2021. School districts will open and follow procedures dependent on how many cases of the Coronavirus are present in the three counties our school district touches: Lyon, Lincoln, and Yellow Medicine. These numbers will be updated every two weeks on the MDH Website.
The following chart displays the ranges that will be used for determining if our school district will be in person, hybrid, or distance learning:
Currently, our numbers show we are in HYBRID for PreK-12.
Due to our total enrollment being less than 50% of the building occupancy and because we were able to space students in our classrooms 6 feet apart, we can bring all students back in HYBRID!
The primary goal is for the number of Coronavirus cases to decrease in the Lyon, Lincoln, and Yellow Medicine East counties so we can keep all of our students attending our school every day. For that to happen, we need your help! Social distancing and wearing face coverings will improve our chances of keeping our schools open.
A task force convened seven weeks ago to plan a safe return for our staff and students. Our Fall Re-opening Handbook was approved by the Minneota School Board on July 30 and has been e-mailed out to our families. The handbook will also be uploaded to our district website at www.minneotaschools.org.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call me.

Sincerely,
Dan Deitte
