How to talk Minnesotan, the Musical is back on stage at the Plymouth Playhouse.humdeshotdish

When Howard Mohr of Cottonwood first penned his book, How To Talk Minnesotan, it was an immediate hit.
Then it went on stage at the Plymouth Playhouse in the Twin Cities.
Now, following a six year hiatus from the Plymouth Playhouse, Troupe America, Inc. and Curt Wollan, Executive Producer announce the return of Minnesota’s favorite “homegrown musical comedy,” Howard Mohr’s How To Talk Minnesotan The Musical.
It will preview January 29 and open January 30.
The Plymouth Playhouse is the original home of the Lost Walleye Lodge operated by the Humde Family who have been teaching visitors the basic lessons in How To Talk Minnesotan for more than 12 years now.
With a return visit, according to Mohr, "Since folks have always had such a good time learning the basics, Ed and Lucy Humde thought it might be fun to offer a brush-up course."
The audience will be treated to those beloved classics Hotdish Hallelujah, Northwoods Woman and Brother’s In Ice along with easy to follow lessons underscored by advertising spots and jingles.
The Humdes and friends will guide you through the positive power of “not too bad,” “can’t complain,” and “it could be worse.”
You’ll learn how to accept food on the third offer, wave Minnesotan, and then send you off with a loving Minnesotan Long Goodbye.
The play, adapted for the stage by Howard Mohr with music by Drew Jansen opened with the summer version and became an instant hit.
In December of 1998, Mohr and Jansen created the Holiday and Winter shows followed by the Best Of in 2001.
An estimated 900,000 visitors have enjoyed the musicals.
The show became a favorite destination for out-of-town guests and visitors and has always been a popular booking with National conventions and corporate meetings.
Producer/Director Curt Wollan credits the success of the show to its mild-mannered humor and its ability to let people laugh at themselves at the same time.
“Every part of the country says 'you bet', but it’s our spin, our own idiosyncrasies which make it accessible.”
All performances of How To Talk Minnesotan The Musical are at the Plymouth Playhouse.
