Veterans Day

Minneota American Legion Commander Jim Fink was instrumental is acquiring two military statues for Veterans Park. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the annual Veterans Day program normally held at the Legion and the public school was cancelled this year. A few of the Legion members dedicated the statues on the morning of Nov. 11. Harold DeSmet poses with the "No One Left Behind" U.S. Army statue, as well as the U.S. Navy sailor statue. Allan Geiwitz donated the Navy statue in memory of his father. The photo shows the bronze plaque that will be displayed by the sailor statue's feet once the weather warms. In the afternoon, LTC Try Fink, BN Commander 1-151 FA of Montevideo, left, Leon Kack, center, and DeSmet held an honorable flag-burning ceremony behind the Legion.
