TRUNK OR TREAT SET FOR OCT. 29

The fourth annual Trunk or Treat event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 in the St. Edward's School/Church north parking lot.
The event, sponsored by St. Edward's P.E.A.C.E. committee, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
The St. Edward's event has been gaining in popularity each year and draws around 200 costumed kids and their parents, grandparents or guardians.
"We are looking for individuals to enter trunk and pass out treats," said Nikki Traen, one of the coordinators. "There is no entrance fee to participate."
Volunteers are not required to decorate their vehicle, although most entrants do.
Some people provide games for the kids to play and earn a treat.
The number of entered vehicles each year is around 10-15.
Trunk or Treat was designed several years ago by churches and communities to make Halloween safer by holding it during daylight hours when kids are crossing the streets at night with numerous vehicles passing by. Trunk or Treat held on a weekend also gives adults a chance to participate without having to hurry home from work and get the kids dressed for a night of Trick-or-Treating.
Trunk or Treat has brought back the fun for kids to dress up and meander from one vehicle to the next and garner as many treats as they can in one location.
