Triple feature

It seemed like Granite Falls was holding a bird-themed, outdoor triple-feature this past weekend: Pelican Brief, Mighty Ducks and Bird on a Wire.
But the actors weren't Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts ({Pelican Brief), nor were they Emilio Estevez (Mighty Ducks) or even Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn (Bird on a Wire). These were actual birds.
With the Minnesota River being lower than normal, the many pelicans that typically hang out there had much more room to rest on Sunday afternoon.
On the same day, two mallard ducks walked nearly an entire block by the Volstead House near the river, one following the other down the sidewalk. And many birds often perch on the same telephone wire just east of Granite Falls.
