Doing her part by playing a witch was Corky DeCock. At the piano playing the tunes for the group was Helen Wambeke. In his best Halloween attire was Ray Noyes.Residents Rita VanDorpe and Ruth Anderson joined in the singing together.

Spookiness at the Manor

(To the tune of “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas) “I’m dreaming of the Great Pumpkin ... Just like I do this time each year.”

“When he brings nice toys ... to good girls and boys ... who wait for him to appear.”

Who writes lyrics like this? .... (Tune: Winter Wonderland) ... Screech owls hoot, are you list’nin? Beneath the moon, all is glist’nin ... A real scary sight, we’re happy tonight... Waiting in a pumpkin wonderland.”

Or later in the song, “Later on, while we’ re eating, what we got for trick or treating .....”

Wait that’s enough.

Christmas tunes set to Halloween?!?!? “Sister Betty Gits wrote these,” smirked Jim DeCock, who led his group of senior seniors through the tunes along with the residents of the Minneota Manor.

OK, for those who know Sister Betty Gits, that explains it.

(Tune: Deck the Halls) Deck the patch with orange and black ... Fa la la la la, la la la la!

Take along your goody sack ... Well, you get the idea.

With Halloween quickly approaching on Wednesday, the Minneota Manor hosted several events, including “Sue’s Spooky Stories,” and the Spooktacular Sing-a-long”.

The fun was to continue on Wednesday with a, “Little Spooks Parade” from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., including daycare kids who come to visit the residents.

They also had Pumpkin Bowling with the school kids. Also on Halloween, Big Stone Therapy held Spooky Bingo with friends and kids coming to the manor for Trick or Treat in the front lobby.

But most likely what the residents won’t be able to get out of their minds will be the Betty Gits Halloween songs.

(Tune: Clementine)

In the graveyard, in the graveyard, When the moon begins to shine. There’s a doctor, crazy doctor And his monster, Frankenstein.

Oh, my monster, Oh, my monster, Oh my monster Frankenstein. You are looking very scary, Sweet old monster, Frankenstein.

On that note well just sing ...

(Tune: Auld Lang Syne)

Should all the pumpkins be forgot — and all the goblins, too?

Should all the witches be forgot — or put in witches brew?
