MINNEOTA SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNIZED
Minnesota School Board Recognition Month. This month gives us an opportunity to recognize our seven school board members who give their time, talents and energy so we can focus on providing high-quality opportunities for students in the Minneota Public School District.
Working closely to balance the concerns of parents and educators and maintaining public accountability, school boards make decisions that can sometimes be quite difficult or require going through a great deal of information before making a decision how to vote. They have a long list of duties which include things such as: developing a vision that will guide the school district in the short-term as well as into the future; reviewing and approving policies and procedures; and managing our finances.
Being a school board member comes with a great deal of responsibility – in fact, school board members in Minneota Public Schools are responsible for an annual budget of $8.5 million, nearly 570 students, almost 100 staff members and a bit less than 130,000 square feet of building space. Recognizing the efforts of our school board is important because of all the hard work they put into making our district a success.
As the superintendent here and having the opportunity to work closely with our school board, I know they have the students' best interests in mind with every decision they make. I could not be more appreciative of the dedication they give to this school district and for the opportunity to work with and for them.
I would like to encourage everyone to thank a school board member for giving their time and for playing a critical role in the future of our school district and community - as a bridge between the local community and the school district, their efforts are instrumental in helping all of us realize the hopes and dreams we have for the children of our community.
