Ludwikowski earns Eagle Scout badge

First female recipient in SW Minnesota

Kaitlyn Ludwikowski officially became the first female from southwest Minneota to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout on Saturday during her Court of Honor at St. Edward's School.
She is also just the third girl to become an Eagle Scout in the Sioux Council that covers parts of South Dakota and Iowa, as well as southwest Minnesota.
"I was so excited to see all the people take time out of their weekend to be here to celebrate this with me," said Ludwikowski, who had a busy weekend while also playing four different parts in the school's Wizard of Oz musical.
Ludwikowski joins her older brother, Nathaniel, who earned the rank in 2019 and also had his Court of Honor at St. Edward's.
Kaitlyn joined the scouts in March of 2019, six months after it was opened to females.
"The hardest part (to becoming an Eagle Scout) was finding the time with all the things I had going on," said, Kaitlyn, who was also Boxelder Bug Days Queen for 2021-22.
Kaitlyn's Scoutmaster, Kori Guza, presented her with the Eagle Scout badge. Assistant Scoutmaster, Myk Greenfield, presented Kaitlyn with her kerchief. They reviewed the points of the law and Scout Oath, along with the rank advancement trail to Eagle Scout. She was given the Eagle Charge by her uncles David and Dan Finnegan and her brother, all all of who became Eagle Scouts, and her Godfather Christopher Duty, who is a Scoutmaster in the Twin Cities.
Kaitlyn then presented two mentor pins to those who played a significant role in her path to achieving the Eagle Scout rank. Those were given to Greenfield, who was her Eagle Scout coach, and Muriel Runholt, who was instrumental in getting Troop 238G going.
She also gave a short “thank you” speech at the conclusion of her special day.
Kaitlyn is the daughter of Michael and Colleen Ludwikowski. Michael is an assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 320 and Colleen is Cubmaster of Troop 320.
She is undecided on her college choice next fall, but will enroll in Pediatric Nursing.
