LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL

Minneota junior-senior prom returns after one-year hiatus

With COVID restrictions loosening up a little more this year, the Minneota Junior-Senior Prom returns after being cancelled last spring and will be held on Saturday, May 1.
The prom and events will run from 6 p.m. to 2 p.m. The Grand March is a ticket-only event with limited seating.
"You have to have a ticket to be able to go to the Grand March, and tickets are basically for parents and close family," said Amber Rodas, prom coordinator. "It’s not open to the public this year as we are limited in the number of people we can have in the gyms."
Following the Grand March, the dance and after-prom activities will be held at the Heritage Event Center south of Taunton. The dance is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. with after-prom activities to start around 11:30 p.m.
The theme for this year's prom is Boho Ball. Masks will be required.
Prom photos will be taken in the Viking Gym beginning at 1:45 p.m. and conclude around 3 p.m.
Students are then asked to report to the school for Grand March by 5:30 p.m., with the Grand March beginning at 6 p.m. Doors will be open to those with a ticket at 5 p.m.
At the completion of the Grand March, prom-goers will load a bus to make the trip to Heritage Event Center. Students are required to ride the bus to and from the Event Center. Those not riding the bus must be dropped off and picked up by a parent.
There will be many games, hayrides, activities, bonfire and snacks available as part of after-prom party, which will have a DJ and run from 8 p.m. until midnight.
Students can bring a change of clothes and there will be designated areas for changing clothes.
Walking tacos will be served from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Family Feud and The Dating Game will then be available for students to participate in, with prize drawings being held at 1:30 a.m.
Buses will then load at 1:55 a.m. and return to the school.
