Josh Larsen

Larsen join Engels law office

Met 18 years ago in Guards; deployed to Iraq together in 2006

John Engels met Josh Larsen 18 years when both served in the National Guard in St. Paul. And now the two are reunited in Minneota.
Larsen began working for Engels two weeks ago as a general practitioner. The official name of the office is now Engels & Larsen, PLLC.
"So far, so good," said Larsen, when asked how his new job is going. "I'm getting back in the swing of things. I'm still getting familiar with a different environment."
Larsen comes with a lot of experience working in law offices, having worked in law firms since 2003 in Fairmont and Eagan.
Larsen is from Apple Valley and graduated from Northfield in 1992. After spending three years in the U.S. Army in Fort Campbell, KY, he was an undergrad at Middle Tennessee State in Criminal Justice before returning to Minnesota and graduated from Hamline School of Law in St. Paul in 2002.
Larsen and Engels first met in the National Guard in St. Paul in 2002. They were deployed to Irag together in 2006-07, where they worked in the same office; Engels as Brigade Judge Advocate and Larsen as part of the legal defense team.
"Josh and I also led a leadership team for the nine-state Midwest Region for the Army National Guard," Engels said. "So we have known each other and worked together for a long time."
Larsen practiced in Fairmont for five years as a general practitioner at a small firm before joining Thomson Reuters, a large law firm in Eagan from 2008 until joining Engels.
"Josh wanted to get back into private practice and more hands-on legal work," Engels noted. "He does terrific work."
Larsen and wife, Randi live in Marshall with their 11-year-old daughter Hailey.
"We wanted to try something new," Larsen explained about the move. "We like the small town life."
