Chocolate Affair tickets on sale now
The ever-popular Chocolate Affair event is set for Saturday, Feb. 8 as a precursor to Valentine's Day at the American Legion Hall. The annual event, billed as a night of decadence and music, is sponsored by Friends of the Library and will be held from 6-9:30 p.m.
The doors will open at 6 p.m. Route 68 once again be on stage to provide musical entertainment with their big band songs.
Their music entices many in attendance to hit the dance floor. The Chocolate Affair event is the Friends of the Library's biggest fundraiser of the year. Support among the community and beyond generally draws around 150 people.
An abundance of various chocolates and other snacks will be available for those attending.
There will also be a chocolate fountain to dip strawberries, marshmallows or bread into. Duke's Corner Café in Taunton will be catering the event. The menu will feature roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, Caesar salad and beverage. The bar will also be open for beer, wine or set-ups.
There will also be a silent auction that draws an abundance of donated items. The Friends of the Library are still seeking donations of items or money.
Donations are full tax-deductible. Items in the past have ranged from gift certificates, wine, crocheted blankets, quilts, toys, gift baskets, household décor, and much more. Profits from the event are used to fund improvements to the library building, while also sponsoring events and programs at the library for children and adults.
Tickets are $25 each per person and are available until Feb. 5 at the Public Library, Brad's Market and Gislason's Hardware in Minneota, and also at Hy-Vee and Music Street in Marshall. There will be no tickets sold at the door on the night of the event.
