Chocolate Affair coming again

What better way to spend an evening than to enjoy good food, good music, good friends, and a lot of chocolate?

The Minneota Friends of the Library are again sponsoring the popular “Chocolate Affair” from 6-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the American Legion.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. This is the Friends of the Library’s biggest fundraiser of the year and typically fills the Legion hall with over 150 people.

The event will feature a table filled with chocolates of all kinds, while strawberries and other items will be available to dip into a chocolate fountain.

Route 68 will again be on stage to entertain with their big band sounds, while couples dance the night away in front of them.

A catered meal from Duke’s Corner Cafe in Taunton will feature stuffed pork chops, baby red potatoes, green beans almondine, and Caesar salad.

Beer, wine and set-ups will also be available. There will again be a silent auction where various donated items will be available to bid on.

The Friends are asking for the community’s support by donating an item or money toward the silent auction.

They are a non-profit organization, so donations are fully tax-deductible. In past years, silent auction donations have included such things as handmade items, household décor, gift certificates, toys, gift baskets, tools, household items, art, and much more.

“We are grateful for all the donations and support that we have received in the past,” said Katie VanHecke, Silent Auction Chairperson for the Friends of the Library.

“Our profits are used to fund improvements to the building and sponsor events and programs at the library for both children and adults.”

The cost to attend the Chocolate Affair is $25 per person. Tickets are available until Feb. 6 at the Public Library, Brad’s Market and Gislason’s Hardware in Minneota, and also at Hy-Vee and Music Street in Marshall.

There will be no tickets sold at the door for this event.

Donations may be dropped off at the library, or mailed to Katie VanHecke at 201 N. Washington St., Minneota, MN 56264.
