‘You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown' spring musical scheduled for May 7-8

After having both the spring play and fall musical cancelled last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, Minneota will be presenting "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" for the spring musical this year on May 7-8.
"We are excited to be able to put on a spring musical," said director Aubree Cheadle. "We are still taking precautions such as wearing masks and social distancing at rehearsals."
At this time, it is uncertain if a live audience will be allowed. If not, the musical will be shown livestream.
"We are hopeful that we will be able to have a live audience, Cheadle said. "Community members can follow our Facebook page, Minneota Drama, to watch for announcements regarding whether or not the show will be open to the public."
The musical features many of the familiar Peanuts characters such as Charlie Brown (Joe Voit), Linus (Tristan Bierschenk), Snoopy (Katie Walerius), Lucy (Emma Lipinski), Sally (Brooke Moorse) and Schroeder (Joe Verschelde).
There will also be 10 Peanuts chorus members: Violet (Elena Myhre), Pig Pen (Dawson Dovre), Shermy (Noah Harms), Peppermint Patty (Autumn Dovre), Freida (Joey Clark), Little Red-Haired Girl (Sylvia Rabaey), Woodstock (Kaitlyn Ludwikowski), Marcie (Grace Landrus), Larry (Carter Anderson), and Maynard (Logan Anderson). "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a good musical to do while working around the pandemic since most scenes have only a few people on stage at a time, making social distancing possible," Cheadle explained.
"The original show only has six main characters, but we've expanded the cast to allow 10 other students to join as the chorus. Those kids have been cast as other characters from the Peanuts comic strips."
Rehearsals began last week, but have been held in the temporary choir room at the school due to space limitations brought on by the pandemic guidelines and restrictions.
"We are having to use alternate spaces in the school due to COVID-19," Cheadle told. "The band room is currently being used for another class and the stage is being used for elementary band practice."
Now that the wrestling season has concluded, rehearsals for the musical will be held at the Legion building, where the wrestlers were previously practicing.
