Superintendent's Report

Thank You!

I want to thank the voters of the Minneota School District for their support of our building bond referendum held August 22. The approval of this important vote means we will be able to provide the best possible facility for our students and staff in which to teach and learn.

To give some perspective on how building bond elections have been going before our vote, only 7 out of 22 elections have passed (32%) in Minnesota since January 1, 2017.

Also, with 62.8% approval in our election, we have the best approval percentage so far in the state. It is a real testament to you, our taxpayers, for stepping up and providing the needed funding to make these necessary upgrades.

Many people played a large part in helping run this election, and I would like to recognize the following people/organizations: Taxpayers- Without you this vote could not have been approved.

Thank you to everyone who attended our informational meetings, became an informed voter, and came out to vote.

Minneota Staff- Our staff works hard every day to provide the very best education to our students.

They also worked hard getting the word out about our building needs. LeaAnne Bot, Chad Johnston, Caitlyn Sonnenburg, Les Engler, and Karen Dalager- These staff members took time out of their summer break to write articles to tell the story of their personal experiences dealing with the areas that need renovation.

Byron Higgin and the Mascot- Byron provided a weekly column for the District to publish its articles and pictures.

Election Judges- Deb Johnson, Donna Buysse, Darla Timmerman, Allan Dovre and Rita Dovre agreed to come in and help us conduct the election.

Tegan Gillund- Tegan spent countless hours publishing and posting required notices, registering and helping taxpayers absentee vote, and making sure the required paperwork was submitted to the county auditors and Minnesota Department of Education.

School Board and Administration- The School Board had the vision to call for an election to make sure our facilities stay updated and both the school board and administration worked hard to get the word out about the building needs.

With this approval, we will get to work preparing the bid documents to send out to contractors.

The goal is to receive the bids in time to approve them at the December School Board meeting.

We hope to start work in April 2018 and continue throughout the summer.

Sincerely,

Dan Deitte Superintendent of Schools
