First Meal

I’m proud to say I was served the “official” first meal at the new City Hall Bar & Grill.

Oh, they had a dry run earlier, but on opening day, Friday, my waitress Lizzy Davis declared, “I believe this is the first meal served.”

The weather caused a lot of havoc, but still it didn’t take long for the new eating place in town to fill up. Saturday was a disaster because of all the snow and the grill had to close.

But by Monday they were back in operation and folks were filing into the new restaurant for a meal.

It’s hard to describe how wonderful it is to have an eating place back in town. But when you hear things like, “It’s really a great place,” or, “The food was really good,” then you know something special is happening here.

And folks are saying that. It feels so good to have a place to gather, to meet with friends, to share a meal with others.

This is a great gift to the community — and, of-course, it was the community that pulled together to help make it happen. Hey, that first meal was a great one.

LAUGH A LITTLE: A sudden turn of events A fellow was walking in backyard with his morning cup of coffee when he looked over the fence and noticed the neighbor girl digging a hole.

He asked, “Little Susie why are you digging the hole”? She replied, “My gold fish died”. The hole was one foot by two feet and two feet deep, so the man said, “That’s a big, big hole for a gold fish”. She replied, “My gold fish was in your cat’s mouth.”

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: As my Ole Pappy used to say, “Don’t wish that life was easier. Wish that you were better.” Ole Pappy was big on doing what you can with what you have. He used to say that, too!

Thanks Ole Pappy!
