Ole Pappy

The greatest Viking moment ever

For years, basically all my years, I’ve wondered what it would feel like if our Minneota Vikings actually were on the “receiving end” of one of those life-changing plays. Most people will tell you they always, “Happen against us.”

But Sunday, as a couple of people told me, “I’d given up, settled back in my chair and figured, ‘Well, this another one of those games where the Vikings blew it.’”

Then, out of the blue, here comes this marvelous, Minnesota shattering play engineered by quarterback Case Keenum and receiver Stefon Diggs.

Diggs catches the ball and all the world, including me, expects him to step out of bounds and give his kicker a chance to win the game.

Then, suddenly, as if the heavens opened up and thunder clapped, Diggs caught the ball, spun away from his two defenders and headed for the end zone.

I, like thousands of others, leaped from my chair, eyes wide, yelling at Diggs as he headed for the end zone. It took a long time to sink it — but I finally yelled.

WE WON! It was a great moment in time — and I don’t think it will ever be forgotten.

LAUGH A LITTLE: Rock Star Rod Stewart once said: “Instead of getting married again, I’m going to find a woman I don’t like and just give her my house.”

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

As my Ole Pappy used to say, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite overreaction.”

Ole Pappy knew human nature. He warned me about reactions. While most people say, “For every action this is a reaction,” he always called it an, “Overreaction.”

He was right, too! Smart man that Ole Pappy!
