Ole Pappy

OK, who is our coach, anyway?

There he is, Minneota Viking football coach, ah, Jordyn Kalthoff.

Looks like Chad Johnston, the score at halftime was right!

The name says Minneota!

But ... Jordyn Kalthoff!?!

OK, so nobody’s perfect, not even the media department for the Minnesota State High School League. See the name under Chad’s photo.

His wife had to be saying, “Looks like my husband, but that’s not his name!” Maybe they got him confused with Canby-Minneota Dance Coach Jordyn Kalthoff?

Anyway, it was one of those quirky moments in Minnesota High School Football.

How about another. The league prepares a really nice Defensive and Offensive depth chart for the media so you can follow the game.

So I opened to the Minneota Viking depth chart — and what did I find .... how about names like Jordan Twedt, Nathan Pavek, Isaac Josephson, Jordan Beck, Nick Esping, Cole Hennen and Alec Engler.

A closer look at the chart said, “Minneota Viking Football 2012.”

Excuse me, but what did that have to do with anything?

By-the-way, Beau Buysse and Paul Raymo were sitting near me at the game (in the nose bleed section) where they put the reporters and broadcasters.

They did a great job again this year on KQ92 radio out of Madison.

Upstairs “streaming” the game to football fans was former Minneota Viking quarterback Austin Buysse.

Several former Viking athletes have been doing a great job broadcasting — including Molly Hennen and her sister Kelsey (Hennen) Buysse, who handled the state tournament volleyball finals without Paul, who was gone to do the Vikings football game in Alexandria.

Molly and Kelsey received a lot of praise for the great job they did. Paul Raymo does an excellent job on Minneota sports — but sometimes he takes a little ribbing from fans in Lac qui Parle Valley country.

For instance, he has a pull over with Minneota Vikings on it. But he doesn’t dare wear it anywhere but around Minneota fans.

That’s OK, he can put it on when he gets to Minneota games.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: As my Ole Pappy used to say, “I think I think more than you think I think!”

Ole Pappy could be quite a jokester and he’d throw out this little one-liners once in a while. It always made me laugh, but this one made me think (more than I think I think).

Thanks Ole Pappy!
