Blizzards choke area; heavy snow damages buildings

Knocked groggy by two blizzards, people who live in this part of Minnesota were wondering, with winter just a couple of days old, what the remainder of the season would bring. It is estimated that about seven inches of snow swept across this community Saturday night and that Sunday night the frigid blasts from the northwest piled an estimated 12 to 14 inches into huge drifts. A roof on a laying house - 60x200 - collapsed Sunday on the Clifford Jeremiason farm dropping down on some 12,500 laying hens in cages. A permanent awning on the Nordquist and Bourgeois Furniture Store dropped to the sidewalk below.

Shower

A baby shower was held at the home of Mrs. John Doyle on December 18 for Mrs. Jon Guttormsson. Mrs. Doyle and Miss Christine Hayward were hostesses.

Bourgeois gets $100 bond for “Spare” game

Because he was wearing the right type of shirt and because he picked up every spare when bowling on November 26th, Donald Bourgeois became richer by $100 savings bond. The savings bond was sent to Bourgeois by a Minneapolis manufacturer of sportswear for bowling a “perfect spare game” - spares in all frames and the last ball was for a strike. Mrs. Joseph Kiley bowled a similar game earlier in the season - but did not receive the savings bond because she wasn’t eligible as she was not wearing the right type of shirt.
