75 Years Ago-March 31, 1944

Grondahl-Erickson

Miss Lorraine Erickson, grand-daughter of Mrs. Mary Stone of Minneota, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Erickson of Canby, was married to Roy Grondahl; son of Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Grondahl of Canby, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran church at Cleveland, Ohio on Monday, March 6th.

Personals

A girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hoffman, March 29th. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brewers are the parents of a boy born on Saturday, March 25. He will be named Joseph William. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Karolczak are the parents of a boy born Sunday, March 26. Mr. and Mrs. Orville B. Moore are the parents of a girl born Tuesday, March 28th.

Rev. Casey talks at K.C. gathering

Rev. Phillip Casey of Minneota was one of the Knights of Columbus held last Thursday evening, when the council honored member of the charter class of April 1912. Among the members of that class present was H. J. Tillemans of Minneota and W. P. Tillemans.

50 Years Ago-April 3, 1969

Project winners

Three students, Cecelia Girard, Judy Hamerlinck, and Debbie Tillemans, were declared winners of a model castle project of the sixth grade at St. Edward’s school here. Cecelia won first, Judy took second and Debbie was awarded third place.

Stores closing three hours Friday

Minneota stores will be closed for three hours on Friday (Good Friday) from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Two receive nursing caps Two girls from this community, Miss Karen Lee Hauschild and Miss Cheryl Traen, were among 75 women who received their nursing caps during recognition ceremonies held at Plymouth ceremonies held at Plymouth Congregational church Minneapolis, last Friday.

Signs go all over

Signs made by Minneota Plexi-Lite, Juston Andersen, proprietor, are going all over the northwest - even the nation. Evidence of this latter fact was that Andersen, last week, was completing an order received from the Chicago office of Armour and Company. These were magnetic signs to be attached to doors of cars being driven by that firm’s employees.

25 Years Ago-March 30, 1994

Presented with fifty year membership plaque

Josephine Differding, is the recipient of the fifty year membership plaque in the Catholic Aid Association. She is the first person in Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Aid Council to receive the plaque.

At home and healing

Jon VanKeulen (15-year-old son, and youngest child of Dan and Terry VanKeulen) is at home after his vehicle accident and is getting around quite nicely with the aid of crutches. He plans to return to school after the Easter vacation.

Brass sextet plays at Fine Arts Night

This brass sextet, with Eric Alleckson, Pat Engels, Loren Louwagie, Sheri Tillemans, John Fier and Angie Yost, was one of the musical entries in the Fine Arts Night program held at the high school last Tuesday night.

A speech with emotion

Adam Hagen gave his Creative Expression speech at the Fine Arts Night. The narrative was filled with humor, changes in personalities, and gave Hagen a lot of room for expressing himself. He received a 2nd place in the recent Sub-Section Contest.
