Warm hearts made for warm coats

Dear Editor;

United Community Action Partnership would like to thank everyone in Marshall and the surrounding communities who came together and responded so quickly and graciously to our request for help with Coasts of Kids this year.

The need for coats and other winter items was greater than previous years and we believe the earlier-than-usual cold weather played a role in the high demand. This year we provided 878 coats, mostly to children, and some for adults in need.

When you add in hats, scarves, mittens, boots, snow pants, etc., the total number of items provided to keep Lyon County warm was 1,508. Compared to last year’s approximately 400 coats, we blew it out of the ballpark.

Thank you for being such a caring community and understanding the importance of warm clothes in Minnesota.
