Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

We understand you may have seen an article in the Minneota Mascot last week. It may have surprised you, and it surprised us too. We want to assure you that the one positive employee case of COVID-19 that the newspaper was referencing was the one we alerted you to a few weeks ago.
We have followed all Minnesota Department of Health precautions, monitoring our residents carefully for symptoms and continuing to screen all staff members. No one else has tested positive, and we are now beyond the window in which we would have expected to see transmission from that positive case if it had occurred.
The newspaper did not contact us ahead of publishing their story to give us a chance to let them know that we had carefully addressed the situation in the past few weeks and had not seen any other cases. We value your participation in your loved one’s care and want to ensure that you feel knowledgeable about what we are doing to keep your loved one safe at Minneota Manor.
We also want to take this opportunity to thank our staff members. They have adapted quickly over these last few months as we have implemented changes to keep everyone safe and they have continued to provide exceptional care. We know these times are trying for everyone and we urge you to reach out if you have questions or concerns.
