Blast from the Past recipe

Here is a blast from the past, the “Kitchen Corner” by Barb Guttormsson recipe book.
This recipe is from October 4, 1973. The headline reads, “Debbie Van DenBroecke Named Homecoming Queen”.
Caramel Apples
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1 15 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 6-8 apples
Combine sugar, syrup and milk. Stir and cook slowly to 230°F. Remove and stir in vanilla. Put sticks in apples and roll in syrup.
Cool on cookie sheet lined with crushed cereal (or wax paper).
Serves 8.
