Social Media

It is a daily occurrence where someone’s social media account is hacked. The suspect has either guessed or somehow figured out the login and password to your account.  It is estimated that approximately 2 billion logins occur daily with 1.2 million accounts being hacked.  A 2016 article I read said 160,000 Facebook accounts are hacked each day.  This is why it is so very important to change your password often and to use passwords that are difficult to guess.  It is also very important to avoid opening emails, links and other attachments that you are not 100% sure are safe.  Many times criminals will plant “data mining” or “spying” software on your device to learn your account numbers, logins and passwords.  Once you are hacked it is near impossible to get your account back.  Final note, if you friend all of sudden starts posting weird or inappropriate things please give them the benefit of the doubt and don’t jump on the bandwagon attacking them for the post.  Don’t be like the hacker, by spreading false info on social media.  Call your friend and let them know because the next time it could be you and I am certain you would appreciate a little understand and help.
