It took until April 23, but the Minneota baseball team finally were able to play another game. It was worth the wait.
Minneota opened the baseball season at Ruthon Monday and came out on the short end of a 9-2 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton win.
Pitching is always the key to any good baseball team. With that in mind, Minneota Coach Keven Larson and assistant J.D. Pesch have helped build a good chance for their Vikings in 2019.
Beau Buysse sat in the dugout, somewhat stunned.
"They just played better than we did," he said after a 6-3 Mudhen loss to the Cottonwood Cardinals.
“This is a team that took third in the state last year,” said Coach J.D. Pesch.
Minneota’s Senior American Legion 5-3 season-opening win over Canby was a nice beginning, in several ways.

Minneota's miraculous attempt to get to the Section 3A finals was met by a dose of reality Saturday when the Lac qui Parle Valley Eagles took an 11-1, six-inning win from the Vikings.
